Pulmonary Embolism Response Team Ottawa (PERT)

The Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) is made up of specialists from Critical Care Medicine,  Interventional Radiology, and Thrombosis. The purpose is to provide physicians and their patients  rapid access to a multidisciplinary team of experts in dealing with life-threatening pulmonary emboli

ANTICOAGULATION SHOULD STILL BE GIVEN WITHOUT DELAY UNLESS CONTRAINDICATED

PERT OBJECTIVES

  1. Rapid assessment and intervention for life threatening pulmonary emboli
  2. Formal mechanism to exercise a full range of medical and endovascular  therapies
  3. Ensure appropriate multidisciplinary followup
  4. Collect, evaluate, and share data regarding effectiveness of treatment and complications
